Online mode of RCOG examination.
Recently, prestigious Royal College of
Obstetricians and Gynecologists has announced its written exam provision will
move from a paper-based to a computer-based format which is going to be
effective from September 2020.
This online format of the exam will provide an
integrated digital solution to make the college’s exam process secure, simple
and transparent and crucially, it will help an extraordinary candidate
experience for the trainees and other doctors working in women’s health care
globally during the special circumstances.
The membership program of MRCOG for career
progression in obstetrics and gynecology has 3 parts assessment i.e. MRCOG-1,
MRCOG-2 and MRCOG-3. Part 1 and Part 2 are written examination whereas part 3
is all about clinical skills.
Approximately, 7,500 candidates appear for MRCOG
examination each year globally but now due to COVID19 pandemic, exams could not
be conducted concerning about the severe spread of the disease. Therefore, RCOG
has taken a tough decision of online examination, would now be known
“computer-based test (CBT)”. RCOG has partnered with the global leader in
computer-based testing, PEARSON VUE, to transform how the college’s exams are
delivered.

How to
book your exam?
Candidates will continue to book the exam
through RCOG website in the first instance. Pearson VUE will contact candidates
closer to the date of the exam to provide to provide instructions on how to
select an available appointment slot at one of their test centers.
What to carry along at the venue?

No candidate is allowed to
carry pen/paper in the test room. A pen and paper will be provided to the
candidates to make notes during exam. Notes will be left in the test room, it
will be collected by an invigilator at the end of the exam.

Eating/drinking is prohibited
in the test centers during an exam.

Carry your IDs (like passport,
driving license, credit card).
On the exam day..
1.
On your appointment to test center,
you will be introduced with the testing rules.
2.
They will then check your
identification and will ask asked about your IDs (like Passport, Driving
license and credit card). You will have to sign your name on digital signature
pad and a palm scanning could also be there in order to confirm your unique
identity.
3.
They will take your photo.
4.
Next, you must keep all your
belongings (like watch, wallet, purse, phone, etc.) into a store locker.
5.
Before admission, you will be
completely inspected which includes your hair, clothes, they might ask you to unroll
your sleeves and for visual inspection, one must put-off their glasses.
6.
You will then be escorted to a
work station of a testing room.
7.
When the examination launches,
you will completely be monitored by the proctor and audio/video recorder.
8.
For break, you are asked to
raise your hand. Every time you leave or return to the testing room, you must
show your ID and palm scanning would be done too.
9.
When your exam is complete,
raise your hand and the proctor would escort you out of the testing room.
10. You
will receive your score report before exit.
11.
Recollect your belongings from
the locker.
